Did Lil Wayne "REALLY" sell 1 million records (of his new CD) in his first week?

Did Lil Wayne really sell 1 million records of his new CD, The Carter 3, in his first week… or is this just another elaborate marketing scheme by the "major" music industry players, ie. Universal Music Group. We all know that record sale numbers are basically projections, provided by SoundScan, based on units pre-ordered by retail outlets and not actual sales by consumers, and with music retail stores closing at a record pace unwarranted pre-orders are highly unlikely. If Lil’ Wayne did indeed sell 1 million in his first week, good for him, but common sense should raise the question… "If international artists like Kanye West, Jay-Z, and 50 Cent weren’t able to sell those numbers with their latest efforts, how was a genre-limited niche artist like Lil’ Wayne able to… he’s never done it before?" I mean he’s selling out the "House of Blues," not Madison Square Garden. The whole thing sounds like a bunch of orchestrated baloney to me… what say you?

and btw thats not really that big an amount IF you remember right back in 2001 limp bizkit’s chocolate starfish album (the one with Rollin on it) sold a million in its first day haha xD

Yeah it did.. I think the record company may have bought a couple of tens of thousands at the last minute though.. Because they were saying the night before the figures came out that it was gonna sell 969k

lol do i sense a hater? he rily did sell that many and he is an international hit especially in the UK where he toured this year

lil wayne is actually doing btter than kanye jayz and definately 50 cent. he really did sell 1 million. unfortunately i didnt get it yet haha

Of course this is a marketing scheme, the days when artists really sold 1 million records in an opening week are long gone, and Lil’ Wayne is especially no exception, not like Kanye, 50, or Jay-Z. The music industry is desperate and will try anything to prove they can still sell records, unfortunately the average consumer sees through the bullshit and will continue to download music for free. Matter of fact my download of Lil’ Wayne’s album just finished, now I can enjoy my complimentary copy of The "Faux Million" Carter 3… thanks Weezy!!!

Either way, that cd wasn’t worth it, I mean, good for him selling that much, and good for me for not buying it, and selling it making my own numbers. IMO I think the album was alright, nothing too crazy, but decent, but definetely not deserving of the attention. I think the Three 6 Mafia album, Last 2 Walk, is wayy better than anything Lil Wayne has put out in a while.
