I wanna be in the music industry. how do i get the labels such as Jive records to notice me?

and how do u record a demo is there any other way besides recording it in a studio?
Hello, I am a former recording artist and musician.
I am retired now but in order to get the recording industry to listen to you now a days you almost have to have an inside person to get the songs to someone inside.
Back when I recorded it was much easier because there were no as many trying to make it.
I did have a few "so Called Hits" not many but enough to get me and my band started with the larger shows.
I can tell you now the recording industry is much like the "Mafia: today.
If you write your own songs it’s much better. I wrote all of mine and it seems that most of the companies want all original material.
All I can say is keep trying and I wish you the very best.
