I need a way to record my music with good results but, I have no money. Or not enough at least. I need the best way to record music at home at a price that is as close to free as possible.
quality is not cheap. the cheaper your gear, the shittier your sound.
that being said, you can probably find a small interface for cheap. the interface will allow you to record into your computer. after the interface you’ll need a mic. in my opinion the mic is the most important piece. if you spend a little extra on anything in your set-up, make it the mic.
if your computer already has a music program such as garageband, you would only need to buy a mic. you can find a cheap USB mic and that would allow you to skip getting an interface.
you could also look at best buy i’ve seen little podcast kits. it comes with a mic and i believe a recording program. i’m not sure of the capabilities of it, but if its simple recording you are trying to do, this might work for you, and it’d be pretty cheap.
the most affordable way to record however would be to get an old cassette player press record and go from there. the quality will suck, but it’s damn cheap.
you also might be able to find some other local musicians you can link up with and record with. i don’t know what kind of music you plan on getting into or anything but networking at local venues might open up doors to places and people that may be willing to help you record.. References :
