What is Major record label in Hollywood music industry?

February 192010

There are four major record labels and these companies and their subsidiaries are usually refered to as the majors. They are Universal, Sony, Warner Music Group and EMI. Labels that you would be familiar with would be subsidiaries of these companies like Warner Brothers, Atlantic, Interscope, A&M, Columbia, Epic, Capital etc etc…

Some of these are based in L.A. some are not but the Music business is mostly in New York, L.A. & Nashville.

Hope that helps.

The term ‘label’ refers to the logo or a picture of a particular company or a brand. Every finished product that we buy from the market carries a label or a logo of its manufacturer or seller. The major record labels in Hollywood are way ahead of the others as far as volume of sales is concerned and some are in this trade for several decades.
