How often to music records get released on fridays?

The day to release music is Tuesday. According to features editor, Mike Pearson, albums are released on Tuesdays because sales figures for albums are released on Mondays. While films are ranked according to weekend sales figures, the billboard charts are determined according to weekly sales. Thus, in order to maximize their sales potential, albums have to be released immediately after the posting of the previous week’s sales figures.

If they did it on Fridays, they would have to wait for another week to see how well – or bad – they are doing, especially when a CDS is dropped before a whole Album.

Why not Friday? From what we’ve heard, this is why every other day of the week doesn’t work:

Monday: If stores are told to begin selling CDs on Mondays, distributors need to ship them by Sunday, and stores need to pay staff to unpack, inventory and stock over the weekend. Also, Monday is a government holiday more than any other day of the week.

Wednesday: Stores and musicians can tell people the new CD is available to buy in the middle of the week, but it usually takes a bit for people to motivate themselves on over to their local record store.

Thursday: For the reason above, Thursday is more too late.

Friday: Even more too late. But it is payday.

Saturday: It’s harder to get press coverage that people see on the weekend.

Sunday: Who goes to record stores on Sunday?

I have nothing against those who still use vinyl to listen to music. I just think it’s silly making vinyl records instead of CD or MP3 in this generation.
I do have some vinyl records, but they’re from the 70’s and 80’s

I don’t think the sound quality is better and I grew up with nothing but vinyl and cassettes.
However, it’s fun to find lost treasures that never made it to digital and convert them to CD/mp3.
You can now enjoy the music in many ways, while still keeping the retro coolness.
Also, vintage album cover art deserves a museum!

Yes, of course. You don’t have the rights to distribute music that you’re not the copyright holder of.

I’ve only been able to discover one Atheist Hip Hop record label owned by Terrence Ward as a Sole Proprietorship as of February 19th, 2010. I think he recently published a few articles and/or books online for free in PDF document at Internet Archive:

In response to the critics who have questioned the point of an Atheist owned record label I suggest you read Terrence Ward book (i.e. Atheos Records: Business Plan) available for free in PDF document at Internet Archive which addresses all the critics and shows how you can market Atheist Hip Hop music with all the images of Atheism and at the same not being too overly aggressive with the message of Atheism.

The author of this business plan actually made a 30 minute speech to the Government Student Association (i.e. which included people from different backgrounds and/or religious faith) at a local college here in the state of Florida about the idea of an Atheist record label and received positive feedback when it was explained to the audience the purpose of an Atheist owned record label. To the previous reviewer who questioned the idea of an Atheist owned record label as a bad idea simply doesn’t understand business and the varied money making opportunities that exist even for the most silliest of ideas. A lot of people thought that the White Supremacist pop group Prussian Blue wasn’t going to be successful with their messages of racial hatred, anti-government, e.t.c. However, this White Supremacist group has managed to generate a moderate following with sales revenue $80,000 without the financial backing of a nationally recognized major distributor. That’s not bad at all for an independent White Supremacist pop group.

I think Terrence Ward has a great plan of action if he remains consistent with his business idea and doesn’t get side tracked with other career obligations and/or receives the capital investment he is seeking.

Our band has made a demos CD of hindi pop and soft rock genre. EMI said they like our music bt right now not willing to sign in new bands and artists. So I’m seriously on a look out for some good labels.

How come Everyone thinks Michael Jackson owns The Beatles Recording? EMI Says They Own the Master Tapes?

Well in all the news stories State that EMI Ltd holds the copyrights to the The Beatles and Solo (except Paul`s Solo music) master tapes and The Beatles tried to sue EMI Ltd to take ownership of The Master Tapes and The Beatles lost the case! I seen the Masters in the EMI vaults they are labeled propriety of EMI. And EMI files The lawsuits who infringe on the Copyrights of the The Beatles music. MJ does not have anything to do with EMI or the master tapes. You can look on any Beatles Album or any TV program they list they got the music from EMI and is copyrighted by EMI. Only thing MJ owns Is the the Publishing rights!

Michael Jackson’s Estate owns the majority of The Beatles songs. The estimated value of this catalog -in 2009- was 1.1 Billion dollers US. Long term royalties have been estimated to be five times that. EMI may own the master tapes; but these are really only historical documents. The cans are the property of EMI, and when the original printing on albums etc. was done; they owned the -temporary- copywrites. This changes when the owner of the copywrite; (the song’s author), makes a written agreement -an ‘Exclusive Grant’- to assign the copywrite to another organization, such as a publisher. Copywrites can be bought, sold, willed to others, or given away. In 1985, Michael Jackson Holdings bought the publishing rights to 159 or 251 Beatles songs (depending which company is counting), for 47.5 million dollers. This means that the Michael Jackson estate gets a royalty whenever a Beatles song is played or printed. Selling copywrites restricts the future use of the works by the author. Therefore, there is often artist negotiation; but Michael Jackson would not. Paul MacCartney describes the discussion he had -somewhat bitterly- on an appearance on the David Letterman show. (Note that ‘Lennon-MacCartney’ will always get a 50% share of the writers royalties). The EMI suit you’re referring to is the 2005 case, when the ex-Beatles sued them for 54 million dollers in unpaid royalties. Also not to be confused with the 1969 Lew Grade take-over bid of Northern Songs. In 1995 Sony Corp. paid Michael Jackson 95 million dollers to merge these ATV songs into a 50/50 joint venture called ‘Sony/ATV Publishing’.

I mean, cant they just make records not readable to computers?? Or is it just impossible??

If you can hear it you can record it. If you can record it you can post it for download. The only "technology" they could use to keep you from posting rips is "silent music", music you can’t hear. And I don’t think too many people would buy CDs with nothing on them (unless you could write to them).

you see, i have this game and i simply love the background music used in it. but it doesn’t have a folder identifying the music which has been used. so i’m planning to record it on some program i have yet to discover. help please??????????
