How do you get record labels to appreciate you’re genius music?

April 192010

I feel like my glorious music is wasted on the fools who live in my city. How can I get recognized by bigger and better people and get famous.
I meant to use YOU’RE. That’s the vernacular down here. Oh, where is humanity going?

I play the clarinet by the way. Aren’t record labels always looking for a good clarinet player?

Record labels aren’t looking for genius. There are brilliant musicians all over the place, but unless they prove they can sell records, they stand no chance of getting signed. But a dreadful musician who consistently draws big crowds to his performances will be signed in a heartbeat.

Since clarinet isn’t much of a solo instrument, you’ll probably have to join a band to attract label attention. I’m not sure of the demand for clarinet players in bands (I’ve worked with violinists, cellists and accordionists, but never clarinetists), but there are lots of musicians who like mixing things up a bit by adding unconventional instruments. Perhaps you should register at bandmix.com and see if there’s any need for your services. But until you show that there’s a big market for your music, record labels won’t be knocking at your door.

What do you think will solve the music industry’s problems?

April 122010

With new technology and advanced and free methods of downloading music, the music industry, mainly record labels and the artists, are suffering with major financial losses. What do you think needs to happen or needs to be invented to prevent further dismantle of the music industry?

"Artists" aren’t suffering.

Only greedy media-whores whose first interest is money.

What do you think about the music industry’s focus of commercialism over art?

April 62010

I’m researching for a Media Studies assignment and want to know what people think.
Are artists now days simply selling out to make profits?
Is true art no longer valued in terms of music?
Are the record labels only hiring people they know will sell?
Should bands try and be independent from labels to show that they care more about art than profits?
Also does anyone know any good articles/websites relating to this topic?

Does greed shock you, in Amerika, where only the "bottom line" counts, and "success" is measured by the size of your bank account and how heartless you are? BTW, the "music industry" is run by the same psychopaths who own ALL of the media, and who are in service to the NWO. The main function of all media is propaganda, brainwashing and "control". Look beyond the "matrix" and have a clue :)
