getting signed to a music record label in ireland??

April 192010

are there any music record label in ireland that would a rapper/uk grime artist. i love making music and now i want to get signed but i live in waterford ireland and dont even know how to get started. dose any one know any record labels that are in ireland??. i give 100% and take music seriously. can any one help please?.

The label doesn’t have to based in Ireland. I know of a band who are based in north Donegal, and are signed to a Belgian label. My advice would be to just save up, book some time in a studio, record a good quality EP, then mail it to a few labels that would have an interest in your style of music.

What is the best record label for music??

I am a solo singer/guitarist and I am wondering how I am supposed to present my music to a record label?

April 132010

I want to get signed to a record label, but i don’t know how to present my music to them. It’s so hard to get together a band, so I am trying a solo career.

I make pop/rock music and I am 19 years old.

Any suggestions?

Also, there’s a ton of info on this site:

www.knowthemusicbiz.com

It’s basically set up as a resource for artists who don’t really have any knowledge of the music biz yet. I’d take a look at their wiki first, because it walks you through the different parts of the process step by step, then I would try the other articles.

http://www.knowthemusicbiz.com/index.php/BIZ-WIKI/Introduction.html

But yea, I’d read up a lot before even thinking about getting signed to a label. Not to say that and make you think, you know, "Oh man this is too intimidating." It just takes a little research first.

Good luck!

What determines if a record label would accept you in the music business?

April 122010

& what’t the oldest you could be without them turning you down?
**Sorry. WHAT’S.

This question has baffled many artists over the years. I know so many performers with great talent who can’t get a break, and yet people like Brittney Spears, who is little more than a pretty face, can rocket to stardom.

Talent helps, surely, but in the recording industry, image is everything. You really have to match the image that the label is trying to market at that moment. So, your best bet is to make a couple of REALLY good demos (spend some money for good studio time), and send the demos off along with some photos or videos of you performing live so they can see what your performance image is, and then choose record labels that match the style of music you play.

Record labels like young artists — they market better to the target demographics (13 – 25 yr olds), and, if they’re successful, the record companies can have a longer run with them. 30 wouldn’t be too old to break into the business. 50 probably would be.

Good luck.
