If record execs decided to consult with Y!A RHH?

March 312010

What do you think would happen in the music industry? Do you think lyrical artists would get more promotion? Or do you think from the abundance of "song help plz!!!!!! 10 pts <3 :-) )?" questions would prove them right, so the consultation wouldn’t change a thing.

I feel if they were to look at the intelligent answers/questions the lable heads would drastically change their outlook on rap, and how they go about signing, promoting, and realeasing, artists. But that’s my opinion. What’s yours?

It would be like Fantasy Hip Hop .com…lol…

I need help with Recording BACKING TRACKS for Demo’s for Music Companies, such as Universal-how do you do it?

March 312010

Not the Singing. That’ not what I mean – I mean how, if you have written an original Song, are you supposed to Record the backing track?? How do you get all the necessary instruments; recording equipment; backing vcalists; etc? So, sa if I had written a Rock Song – I’m just a teenager, looking for a job at the moment, but yet I want to submit a Demo to Universal throuh their "Unpredicatble Porridge" Programme. How am I possibly supposed to find Guitaurists; Backing Vocalists; Synthesizers; ANY Instruments; Editors; all the neccessary equipment to Record my Backing Track; Editors and people who actualy DO this??? I mean, do you have to be loaded to do this? Or is there any way a normal person can actually get a Backing rack Recorded?

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated,

BlueSpirit

You need to learn an instrument or join a band, and either record the demo yourselves using equipment you buy or hire, or pay for studio time to record it. Home recording has never been easier or more affordable than it is now. What did you write the song on? Guitar? Piano? Just get a cheap microphone and an old multi-track tape recorder like a Tascan Porta or something. You can get them real cheap, and they’re easy enough to use. Lets you put down your guitar or piano parts first, then record your vocals on another track, etc. Then you bounce it all down to a stereo mix, take a line out into your pc, record it as a wave file and burn it to CD or whatever you need to submit.

Take a look on www.musolist.com and search for other musicians in your area. You never know… you might just form a band.

Have fun.

How long after the recording of the music video for Lollipop did Static Major die?

March 312010

Static Major died on February 25, 2008. I think that the recording of Lil Wayne’s music video for "Lollipop" was the week of Static Major’s death. I would say that Static Major died less than a week after the recording of the music video.

I need proper nods on vinyl records?

March 312010

I have become disillusioned with MP3s and would like to build my classical music collection with vinyl records. I know absolutely nothing about vinyl records or players. Would someone be willing to nod my in the proper direction as to where to find a decent player and classical vinyl records? Or comprehensive information? I appreciate it! Thanks!

I can understand your issue with MP3’s. But why not go with CDs?

Have you ever noticed on YouTube….?

March 312010

How for alot of old music video’s, the record companies haven’t posted the date of when the song actually came out and, just have like 2007 or something instead? I’ve noticed that EMI seems to do that.

As a matter of fact I have. I always look at the part that says "more information" to see if it has a date but its not there sometimes :|

How to find Music Record Label Co.?

March 312010

My husband is an excellent signer, but he never had a chance to go forward with his talent. He used to be a lead singer in the group, but life and family took that chance away. Every time he sings people asking him why is he not doing it professionally. Honestly he doesn’t know where to go!!!!!!!! Anyways signing is his life and he does it very well, and my heart is braking to see him wanting it more then life but don’t know where to go and how to start it all again. Please help me to find Record Co. for him who would hear his talent. Or just give me some hints… THANK YOU!!!

Ive been doing this for 20 years and life has taken me from place as well. The answer is not what you are hoping for. Nobody is ‘discovered’ and there is no door to knock or phone to call. YOUR FEET are the only way to find a lable. Are you looking for some weekend gigs? Thats easy, find some musicians (singers are in high demand). You want money? If you are good… Make a demo and apply at some studios. Think big if you want to be big, and small if you want to have fun. Nashville is big for rock, blues, clasic alt. LA is the place to really hit it big. Your demo should be differant, color, shape, design. They reach in a drawer a few times a week and grab what they see. By the way, you only have about 10-15 seconds to get their attention. Good luck!

March 312010

Can anyone help me to make a few contacts in the music industry for passing on song lyrics I have written?
I want to get into writing song lyrics but do not know where to go with the finished songs that I write. Does anyone know of contacts for the music corporations/record labels or even established songwriters that I could maybe pass my songs onto?
The songs I am writing are Pop songs. Sort of type that an act would sing in the popular music charts

go to www.taxi.com

They’ll help you get started

Can you record music from the old audio cassette tapes to CDs?

March 312010

Is there a way to Move or record music off the old audio cassette tapes to a CD where it doesn’t sound terrible.(Playing a tape through a tape player and holding a microphone that is connected to a computer with a CD burner in front of the speakers and using sound recorder, for example, then burning it to a CD.) Is there Like a program to amplify and refinish, so to speak, By connecting a tape player to your computer with some kind of special cables or something?

yes, you can purchase tape decks which transfer your music to the computer, so you can put it on a CD. If you can’t find one of these, there are record players that do a similar thing that you can plug tape decks into.
try this:

Can my band get as well known on an independent label as they can on a major label? Also, how I release vinyl?

March 312010

ANTI, Epitaph, and Fat Wreck Chords, some of the most prominent and popular independent labels of our time have expressed great interest in my demo and are considering signing me. On the other hand, Epic (a major label owned by Sony) has expressed similar interest. Major labels have a reputation for making unfair contracts witha band, breaking those contracts, and making it so THEY will profit more than the artist in the end. Also, my problem with signing to a major label is that my band has leftist politics and we are very anti-large corporation and pro-fair government and equality for all. to get out political activism message across to millions of people, including maintream america, could we sign with a popular, prominent independent label and get just as much of a message across to people. Fat Wreck Chords has the nicest staff I have ever met in my life, yet I would say ANTI and Epitaph (sister labels) are just a spopular as Sony and Warner, etc. having their records sold at major retilers like Wal Mart and Target. Could this work?

ALso, when/if I release a CD, how can I also release my music on vinyl records, like a lot of lot of new bands are doing nowadays, because interest in vinyl records/Lps/45s, whatever you want to call them has been revived.

Thanks a fucking lot!

sign an independent label if youre good as a band then youll get the oppurtunity with a major label soon but if you get unfairly treated with the major label you cannot come back to independent label and the other major labels whom you try to join will treat you the same way

what brand laptop is best for someone who uses the Reasons program and records music?

March 312010

should i get an Apple computer or any specific brand for someone who makes their own beats and uses the Reasons program plus other digital recording devices?

You should find a Reasons message board and ask there. The answer depends on exactly what you’re trying to do, so be sure and tell them.
